OK, here's the itinerary for our trip.

• We'll leave LA for London on Friday, Sept. 29. In London we'll be at the Kingsway Hall Hotel.
• Friday, Oct. 6 we head for Paris via the Chunnel (hopefully before it goes bankrupt). In Paris we'll be at the Hotel Beaumarchais.
• On Thursday, Oct. 12 we take the train to Bordeaux to see some of my old student-days stomping grounds. We'll be at the Hotel Amarys Royal Saint Jean.
• Just two days later (small stomping grounds) we'll take the train to Barcelona, where we'll be staying at the Hotel Rialto.
• On Thursday, Oct. 19 we fly to Venice. If we can find our way through the canals and alleyways, we'll be resting our heads at the Agli Alboretti Hotel.
• We rent a car and drive to Ravenna on Wednesday, Oct. 25--destination, Hotel Argentario.
• Continuing our mad plunge through Italian traffic, we next stay at the Vogue Hotel Arezzo in... Arezzo, on Friday, Oct. 27. On Tuesday, October 31 we forego trick-or-treating for a drive to Florence where we'll be cared for at the Hotel Berchielli.
• Florence is impossible to park in, so we will have returned the rental and consequently will be taking the train to Rome on Sunday, Nov. 5. We will revisit our old hosts at the Hotel Senato, just a glance away from the Parthenon.
• On Friday, Nov. 10 we fly from Rome to JFK, where we will be staying at the Manhattan Club until we leave for home--finally--on Nov. 16.
